Overview
The JGH Department of Adult Critical Care is responsible for the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICU has approximately 1,255 admissions per year, with an average patient length of stay of 3.2 days. Patients with severe, life-threatening illnesses who require high-quality care on a continuous basis are treated in this department.

The JGH is the only hospital in the province of Quebec with an entire department dedicated exclusively to adult critical care, rather than a stand-alone ICU that is administratively linked to another hospital department or division.
