Welcome to the Jewish General Hospital Quality ProgramOne of the missions of our hospital is to provide excellent care to patients and their families. The Quality Program builds on this mission. It is thanks to the dedicated staff of the Jewish General Hospital that the program is a success. The Quality Program was launched in 1996 at the Jewish General Hospital, a 637 bed McGill University Teaching Hospital. The focus of the Quality program is to measure performance and rapidly develop action plans that improve the quality of care for patients and their families. As the program has evolved, the Board of Directors of the Hospital and the Hospital Executive Committee have increased their support. Quarterly reports are presented to the Board of Directors describing the results of the Quality Improvement initiatives. The members of the Board have also commissioned the Committee to investigate certain quality issues. Furthermore one of the Board members has taken an active role in the Quality Program by participating in committee work and sponsoring its activities. A recent Strategic Planning exercise was completed by the hospital and chaired by the President of the Board. This exercise included a Task Force on the Future of the Quality Program at the hospital. The strong support of the Board of Directors and of the Hospital Executive Committee is important to us and we believe contributes to the success of the program. The fact that the program is co-chaired by a physician and a nurse is a model that is reproduced throughout the Continuous Quality Improvement Teams. Each team is co-chaired by a physician and a nurse or other health care professional. The goal of this model is to foster strong multidisciplinary partnerships working toward improving the quality of care for the patient and family.Another key ingredient is the support and education that is provided to each Team by the Quality Program Coordinator, the Accreditation Canada Site Coordinator, the Quality and Safety Improvement Advisors, the Patient Satisfaction Coordinator and the Risk Management Advisor. These dedicated individuals provide the thread that holds the program together. They are also leading members of the multidisciplinary Committee that steers the work of the program. The Quality Program continues to evolve and we are constantly seeking new ways to improve it. Your feedback regarding our website and our program is welcomed and valued. We will be improving and adding to the site on a regular basis, so we hope that you will check in regularly.Enjoy your stay,
