Louise Pilote, MD MPH PhD

Dr. Pilote is a James McGill Professor of Medicine and an Associate Member of the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at McGill University. She is also the Director of General Internal Medicine at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). In addition to her clinical and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Pilote is a Medical Scientist in the Division of Clinical Epidemiology of the MUHC. She is a Fonds de Recherche en Sante du Quebec (FRSQ) “Chercheur National”. Her work is funded by the Canadian Institutes of
Health Research, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the FRSQ. Dr. Pilote is the principal investigator of GENdEr and Sex determInantS of cardiovascular disease: from bench to beyond PRemature Acute Coronary SYndrome (GENESIS PRAXY).

Dr. Pilote was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She finished her MD at McGill University in 1985. Subsequently, Dr. Pilote trained in internal medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Following her residency training, she obtained a Masters of Public Health from Harvard University in 1989. Dr. Pilote continued her research education at Stanford University where, between 1990 and 1992, she obtained a Robert Wood Johnson post-doctoral fellowship in clinical epidemiology. Between 1992 and 1994, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in health services research with funding from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. After acquiring a post-doctoral research fellowship in cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio in 1994, Dr. Pilote obtained a PhD in epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley in 1997.
